LaVora Perry for the annual National Medical Association convention in Atlanta, Georgia. Theme of session: "Communities in Crisis": Environmental Justice as a Mandatory Step in Homeland Security." May 5, 2008: Moms' unwillingness to let daughters under 13 get HPV (cervical cancer) vaccine increases girls' cancer risks. Read more at WomensHealth.gov

The CDC recommends that all girls ages 11-12 receive the HPV vaccine. Girls as
young as 9 are eligible for it. And girls and young women up to age 26 should get it. CDC.gov has HPV vaccine info--including how low-income/uninsured children under 19 can get them free--here
